While at first sight, one would not see the twin Masted wooden Schooner ''Zacas'' as a ''United States Ship'' (USS), commissioned by The US Navy. Not only was The USS ''Zacas'' a Ship of The Navy during World War II, it was own by the famed 1930s Hollywood Movie Star Errol Flynn. The ''Zacas'' was used by The Navy a s a Rescue Craft to assist in retrieval of downed Pilots (should they crash into San Francisco Bay, California). The Ship served from 1942 until 1944. She was allowed to reain her status as ''United States Ship''. Movie Star Errol Flynn brought ''Zacas''and even let His friend, another well known Actor and Director Orson Welles to use ''Zacas'' as a prop in His Film ''The Lady from Shanghai'' (1947). Flynn, who was infamous in His Private Life (legendary Parties and of questionable choices in Young Women), put him more in Newspapers as a degenerate than an award Winning Film Star. ''Zacas'' was the scene of many ''drunken orgies''. Sold upon his death in 1959, The Ship was purchased and moved to The Island Nation of Monaco (Caribbean). It is also a local legend, in that it is haunted. Late at night in The Port Harbor, Watchmen claim they respond to reports of ''loud parties'' being held aboard ''Zacas''. Upon investigation, none are found. On more than one occasion, Flynn had been ''seen'' striding the decks of ''His'' Ship. It was said that regardless of his problems, He loved the Sea and The ''Zacas''.
