The Hanford Incident

Hanford Engineering Works, located in Washington State (US), was in 1945, one of the few Plutonium Productions Sites, and was part of The Ultra Secret, ''Manhattan Project''. It was The United States plan to develop Atomic Weapons and use them to end World War II. Most of such Sites were highly guarded by both Ground and Air Assets. Reports came in at a nearby USAAC Field, that a series of ''Strange Lights'' were reported heading to Hanford. The Flight, a group of (5) Grumman ''Hellcats'' were scrambled to intercept. What they attempted to intercept was ''something'' (all of which were experienced Combat Fliers)  had never seen. The Fighters saw what they described as '' a Massive Object, roughly in size to that of no less of Three Aircraft Carriers (well over 1,500-feet long). Altitude was determine to be at 65,000-feet and climbing'' Their was no way any conventional Aircraft could even contemplate pursuit. All The Flight could do was ''circle The Plant''. Ground Radar confirmed that ''something large'' was indeed there  but nothing more. After several seconds, The Object rose to such a ''high altitude and with such speed'', that it was out of sight quickly (from The Pilots and Ground Radar). Reported immediately to The Government  the Report was filed. No One investigated The Event. This was perhaps due to the fact that plans were made to deploy Atomic Weapons over Japan. This decision put The US Military into ''high gear'' and all simply filed the Event away to memory.
