A Virginia woman named Zona Shue was murdered in 1897 by her cruel and demanding husband (Erasmus). Thought to have died in childbirth, later investigations determined that he killed her and his own child. Within a year, Zona's ghost kept appearing to a local girl. She gave her visions of her husband strangling her (to a point of breaking her neck) and doing the same to the just-born child. The young girl said the visions were nightmarish and terrifying . Finally, she went to The Police (who did not believe her). However, after constant complaints (and visits), they decided to exhume the body of Zona and autopsy it. Arrested and brought to trial, he was the first person ever believed to be convicted on ghostly evidence .
