This legend was popular for a time in Medieval England. The Village of Woolpit is located on the border of Suffolk and Norfolk. It is very near the dark and deep Thefford Forest. Around 1135 A.D. - a small boy and girl were found by local Villagers near the mouth of a cave. Their clothing was made of a strange silvery and metallic fabric unlike any that has been seen. The even more remarkable fact was that the two children had Green skin! Further, the two spoke no language known. Taken into custody and to the home of a local Nobleman (Richard de Calne), the children refused to eat or drink that is until they were offered bean stalks. The two rapidly consumed the bean stalks and would only eat the organic material as their staple . After a year, the boy grew sick and died. The girl however survived (even marrying and working as a Serving Girl for the Lord. As the girl grew, she was able to learn English . She told of how she came from an underground world she called St. Martin's Land . She stated that all her people had green skin (as their was no sun or bright lights. She also told of huge cities and great bodies of water in St, Martin's Land. After years of living on the surface - the girl's skin became more pale until her complexion was just like everyone else. When asked how her and her brother came to be found above ground, she stated that they heard local church bells and were attracted to the sound. They got lost and confused on the surface (until they were found by the mouth of the cave by the Villagers). Many think that the Woolpit Children were possibly alien crash survivors or possibly part of the Hidden Earth inhabitants theory. The graves of the two are speculated at (with no clear cut proof of just where their physical remains are!)
