The Great ''Sheep Panic'' of 1888

A very strange occurrence happened in Oxforshire, England in 1888. For a 200-mile radius, every Sheep Herd in their Pens, began to show ‘’intense fear and panic’’ – even running (escaping) from Their enclosures (some even injuring themselves to do so). Hundreds, perhaps thousands of Sheep ran thru the Countryside in ‘’abject terror’’. Owners had no idea of just why so many unrelated animals would become so panicked and scared. Local Scholars stated that the ‘’effect’’ was due to ‘’dry lightning’’ storms which ‘’lit up the sky’’ over Oxfordshire, and thus caused ALL the animals to panic and run. But it should be noted, that in 1888 – reports of ‘’strange lights in The Sky’’ were also made. The phenomenon NEVER occurred again. Perhaps The Sheep ‘’sensed something’’ NOT related to ‘’dry lightning’’?
