It was a clear night in The Mediterranean Sea, in June of 1984. The lookout on The Soviet Freighter ''Gobi'', almost immediately noticed something odd off the starboard of His Vessel. A strange ''glowing light'' (he described as Yellow and White in color), was slowly yet steadily approaching The ''Gobi's'' position. The closer it did, the more it resembled the shape of an ''upside down frying pan''. The lookout summoned the Ships' First Officer. He too saw the Object. By now (5-minutes had elapsed), the ''frying pan'' was seen more clearly. The Object hovered some 700-feet above The Freighter and looked like ''2 large plates, inverted – and one on top of the other''. At one point, ''small, window-like openings around the perimeter of The Craft'' – could be seen. Using the Ship's Deck (Light), the two Crewmen tried to send ''code'' to the Craft. The Object had no reaction to the light, and after several more minutes, The Craft silently and quickly shot up into the sky. Duly reported in The ''Gobi'' log, upon return to The Soviet Union, the Log was taken by Port Authorities. However, no investigation or further questioning was made.
