The Ghosts of The Hollywood-Roosevelt Hotel

 Hollywood, California USA - conjures many images of many things to many people. It is the birthplace of The Movie Entertainment Industry, the "Land of Movie Stars".....and of course, Ghosts. The City is full of Landmarks, all related to the "Famous" and "Infamous" of Hollywood's "Golden Age". The now immortal names of Motion Pictures greatest Stars answer Starlets, have walked it's streets and sidewalks. Naturally, as a "Big City", Hollywood has it's share of Hotels, many which catered to the rich and famous. Perhaps none is more famous than The Hollywood-Roosevelt. Built in 1926, it is a 2-story, 12-floor structure built during the beginning of Hollywood's start as a Mecca of Film Studios, all competing with one another for a "piece" of The Great Silent Film Industry. Often, Stars and those who "made" them, stayed at the Hotel during filming and Production. The Roosevelt served as the Site of the very first Academy Awards Celebration, where the Industry awarded it's Stars the coveted Golden "Oscar" Statuette (although it would not be known as such until 1931). Some of the most famous of Stars lived at the Hotel during the production of their films.

One such famous - was none other than Marilyn Monroe. Her iconic image which came to be synonymous with sex appeal is truly immortal. But Monroe was haunted by a tragic life which would lead to her suicide years later. Monroe lived at the Hotel for 2 years in a private Suite. Her most favorite piece of furniture was a large full view mirror, which she no doubt used daily. And in this is our "Ghost Tale". Many people (Fans, mostly) - all wished to stay in what is now known as "The Marilyn Monroe Room. In the 1970s and 1980s, many did...and all have a "story". From "Cold Spots" to the smell of perfume, all manner of phenomenon have been experienced. Photos taken inside the room show "Orbs" and other phenomenon associated with Spirit activities. Her Mirror, in particular - is said to bear her fleeting "image" seen on a regular basis. Marilyn has been "seen" wandering the Halls at night. He has been reported even in "Corporeal" (solid) form (so it has been said).

The Room was investigated many times by Paranormal Investigators with high-tech equipment. Numerous photographs have been published. All agree that "something" is present. So much disruption was caused, that Management of the Hotel, closed the room to rent. The Mirror was removed and placed on display in the Main Lobby. It is said thus did little to stop Monroe's "appearances". Other famous "Spirits" are reported to have taken "Residence" in the Hotel as well. Still a major Tourist destination, still renting rooms and still holding the Title of Hollywood's "Most Haunted" Hotel.
