Rossborough Inn is located on The Campus of The University of Maryland (College Park). Built in 1798, it predated The College and is the oldest structure on Campus. It served as an Inn and Tavern for many years. ''Miss Bettie'' was a flamboyant and well liked Inn Owner, ran The Inn at the time of The American Civil War (1861-1865). The War would too find it's way to The Inn. With several abortive Confederate Invasions of The North, many Rebel Armies encamped in front of The Inn. As such, The In served as Headquarters for several Confederate Generals as well. After The War, The Inn was closed and sold to the College established there. A Historic Site, the Lower Floor of The Inn is used by The College as Administrative Offices. But the issue is with The ''Upper Floors''....and it's Eternal ''Visitors'' it seems. ''Miss Bettie'', is most cited as being an Entity that is ''playful'', in that She ''moves'' Objects often, even hiding them from others. Upstairs, the glimpse of ''Men in Uniforms'' are said to be either Rebel Officers or their Aides – walking the floors, to and fro. But the most cited ''Spirit'' is that of a regular Confederate Soldier. ''He'' was said to have been part of an encampment in front of The Inn and may have died of disease. He is still said to wander the grounds, even ''knocking'' at The Door to The Inn (at night), so loud, as to set off The Security Alarm.
