Located on the Coast of New South Wales, Australia – is a nondescript series of structures. They immediately tell the Viewer that they are in fact ‘’old’’. They are, and all the structures on North Head (although reconstructed and renovated), date to the 1830s. The now quaint buildings lend an air of History….albeit a rather dark one. North Head’s ‘’full name’’ is North Head Quarantine Station – and it was just that. Between 1832 and 1984 (incredibly), The Station quarantined Ships Passengers who were fo8und to have contracted all manner of disease. From Typhoid to Smallpox – all Ships coming into New South Wales needed to be medically inspected. Those found ill, in the beginning – were keep on Their Ships. IF they got well….fine. If not, They died and were quickly buried in the small but quickly growing Station Cemetery. Soon, seen as a type of cruelty to be stuck aboard a Ship to die – more and more containment buildings were erected. These makeshift hospitals served more as a place to die rather heal. So too, did The Station Cemetery ‘’grow’’. In fact, it got so large that The Cairn System was used. These were mass graves which were marked by large conical stones. Often hundreds were laid to rest in such a way. From the mid-19th Century to early 20th, an estimated 5,000 have died at North Head. Hundreds were quarantined children. All of the preceding makes ripe ground for ‘’Ghost Stories’’. The Station has MANY.
From ‘’Shadow Figures’’ to excessive amounts of Electronic Voice Phenomenon (EVP) recorded – The Station can be ‘’experienced’’ day and night. ‘’Saddened voice’’ often confused are often heard – unclear as to where ‘’They’’ are or even ‘’Why’’ They are NOT at Their original destinations. Odors are common as well, both inside and outside of the reconstructed buildings. While no outward violent activity has been reported, Poltergeist phenomenon has been. In The Museum reports artifacts ‘’moving or disappearing’’ randomly. Locked down completely at night, even Night Security Guards shy away from Patrols. Even the medium sized Harbor has it’s ‘’issues’’. As stated, many of the quarantined were kept on Their Ships. At one point, five such ‘’doomed Vessels’’ were docked. (3) of The Ship ‘’lost’’ Their entire Crews and Passengers to Smallpox. In this case, whole Ships were set to the torch and allowed to sink. They stayed in the harbor for years until their wreckage was removed. It is this very stand of water that reports ‘’Ghostly Ships’’ sailing into The Harbor….and of course, the cries and wails of torment.
