Built by The US Army Corps. Of Engineers in 1922 – The Malinta Tunnel is located on The Island of Corregidor in The Philippines. Used for a variety of Missions, The Tunnel was a Storage Facility, Equipment Storage Site, Command Headquarters and even a Hospital. During the beginning of World War II (1941-1942), The Imperial Japanese delivered a crippling blow to US and Allied Forces. Rather than continued heavy loses, US and British Commands surrendered much of their Forces to The Japanese. During the evacuation of Forces from Pacific Commands to Corregidor, The Tunnels served as a Field Hospital, serving hundreds of wounded and dying soldiers. Holding roughly 1,000 beds, those who did not die were taken out by the invading Japanese – to die elsewhere. The massive iron doors sealed the defenders inside. Long since renovated and revered as a War Shrine, the tours given often yield very ''dark and ominous'' experiences by those who go inside. Many report the palpable feelings of ''fear, pain and dread'' inside the very dark tunnels (long vacant and empty of their storage of equipment roles). Sightings of ''Shadow Figures and Cold Spots'' are very common phenomenon. In addition, ''voices'' can be heard – some attributing them to the ''confused souls'' of those who died during the invasion.
