Carizzo Wash is a dried out River Bed, which is located on the Old Stagecoach Route, between Yuma, Arizona and San Diego, Arizona used in the 1860s. The Wash was the scene of a terrible Crime (hitherto unsolved). It is also the scene of a Ghostly apparition still claimed to be seen today. As the Legend goes, a Stagecoach was detailed to transport thousands of USD in Gold. To conceal the Route to be used, The Carizzo Wash was to be used for most of the Route. Further, the Mission was only to occur during Nighttime hours (over 5-days). A Driver and Armed Guard were selected. However, the Guard hot sick before the Mission and no one wanted to take the job. The Driver assumed both roles.
The Stagecoach ran afoul of a Group of Robbers. They killed The Driver and stoke the Gold. They turned the frightened Horses loose who proceeded to run off with the dead Driver inside. The Stagecoach was never seen again. Unfortunately for The Robbers, they too would meet misfortune. They buried the Gold and planned on returning, but we re all killed by a US Cavalry Patrol. To date. Most one had found the buried Gold. Although several Highways and State Routes were built in the 1930s, Travelers at night (young to beat the Desert heat), claim to see the Ghostly appearance of a Stagecoach, running at unnatural speed. Some say they even see a somewhat distraught Driver, desperate searching for the lost Gold. Seen up to the 1990s, it is said should any one find the Gold, The Stagecoach and it's Driver will find Eternal Peace.
