Room #105 of The Hollywood Heights (Hollywood, California) is noted for one particular past celebrity Event. In was in this Room that The ''Queen of Rock-Blues'' Janis Joplin ended Her life by an accidental overdose of Heroine, on October 4th, 1970. Janis, like so many of Her contemporaries – had a hard life and even harder time at being a Celebrity. Long known for suffering self-image issues and fits of Depression, Janis was a known ''hard drinker'' who made things worse with Heroine. She sometimes stayed at the then called ''Highland Gardens'' Hotel. On that fatal night, She was found in Room #105, dead. But Her memory is not, as witnessed by the current state of ''Room #105''. While the name of The Hotel has changed to ''The Landmark Hotel'', and it's Rooms have been renovated MANY times, past Owners decided to keep Janis Joplin's Room, more or less – the same. And while One can rent it overnight, it is rather creepy. Here's why.....
As a means of honoring (or perhaps to cash in on the infamy of the death), a small brass plaque was installed into the closet, dedicating The Room to Joplin's Memory. Over time, Fans have ''written'' messages, poems and feelings of loss ALL Over the closet, walls etc. Hand drawn pictures of ''Pearl'' (Her nickname), are also found. With exception to a ''modern'' bathroom and bed, the rooms design is as it was in 1970. No one has – to date, ''seen'' any Paranormal Activities associated with The Room. But in 2002, a Medium-Psychic stayed in The Room for a Reading. She reported that there was a ''deep feeling of Depression and Guilt'' permeating The Room. And while this ''Energy'' can easily be seen as residual from the many Fans that have come into (or stayed) in the Room – it could very much be from Janis.......
