Located in Charleston, South Carolina – The ‘’Dock Street Theater’’ was one of the earliest such structures built in The City. Originally built in 1736, a fire prompted Residents to rebuild it 1809 as a Hotel. It would remain such until again renovated into a Theater Venue in 1935. Having seen much History and occasional tragedies – The Theater is considered quite haunted. But of all the ‘’Haunts’’, the most experienced, is the so-called ‘’Lady in Red’’. ‘’She’’ was Nettie Dickerson and was an attractive 25 year old. Working as a Clerk when the building was a Hotel in the 1870s, she was working one night late. A storm came thru, with thunder and lightning. Scared, She decided to ‘’wait out The Storm’’. While sitting on the upstairs Balcony. Suddenly, a freak bolt of lighting ripped into The Balcony and struck Her – killing Her instantly. What was left was buried in Her favorite Red Dress. Since Then, Nettie is still ‘’around’’. Often, rocking chairs ‘’move on their own’’, for She had a fondness for them. Nettie also ‘’checks on Guests’ in Their rooms, pulling up the occasional blanket on cold nights. Not malevolent, most Staff and Guests seem to like the attentions of The ‘’Lady in Red’’.
