An American piece of Ghost Folklore , The State of Michigan's 19th Century Tale of Minnie Quay appeared around 1876. She supposedly lived in the Lumber Town of Forester, Michigan. A young girl of 15, she fell in love with a Sailor. Her Parents were naturally upset that she had (due to her age), and locked her away so the two could not see each other. Her Beau eventually sailed away without being able to bid his young live goodbye. The Legend states that the Sailor's ship went down with all hands. When word got back to Town, Minnie was so distraught. Left to watch her younger siblings, Minnie used this as a way to leave her prison . Minnie walked to Town, and was very amicable to all see met. She promptly walked to the Pier near Town and jumped into the water, to drown. From that time to this, she has been seen. One version is that her Ghost is seen crying and mourning at The Pier for a Lover that will not return. Other, that she will lure young heart-broken girls to a similar fate (drowning).
