A Ghost story from Central Florida (US), is that of Captain Johnson. He was a Riverboat Captain who made much of his wealth running Slaves and other illegal contraband in the 1830s. Johnson was an older Man, but nonetheless used his fortune to "secure" a young Bride in an arranged marriage. The young girl did not wish to marry Johnson, but, as was social convention at the time, she could not refuse her Father. Married, she still maintained and illicit relationship with a young Lover behind the Captain's back. At any rate, the good Captain was away much. One say, a terrible storm hit. It was said that The Captain and his vessel sank with all hands lost. This meant that the now young Widow was free of her "curse" - and a very wealthy woman. She openly carried on her relationship in Public without fear.

Then, as "luck" would have it, The Captain returned! Apparently, HE was the only one who survived the storm. Returning home, he quickly developed a rage over the betrayal and short his young wife and lover to death. It was said he took their bodies out into the river. Everyone knew he had killed them, but could not prove it. From that time, the now retired Captain, was considered quite insane. People going by his House heard him screaming and ranting in conversations with what many assumed was the Ghosts of his murdered wife and lover. This carried on until the Captain's body was discovered one day, dead.

From them on, no one can live in the house. Screams, groans and all manner of Poltergeist activity have been reported from the 1930s to 1980s. Vacant still, New Owners wished to bulldoze the whole affair, but Johnson's House is a Historical Landmark. It still sits, waiting to be occupied.......
