The Earl of Bothwell (4th) James Hepburn was linked to The Throne of Queen Mary of The Scots. As her Third Husband, James was tried for the murder of The Queen's Second Husband (to afford his rise to Power). Acquitted of The Charge (barely) James was seen as responsible for a rift created in the growing succession tide for Mary to assume The Throne over Elizabeth I (England). Not long before Mary's ''capture'' and imprisonment James ran to Denmark. Sympathizers there imprisoned James at Dragsholm Castle (a Mansion really) for 5 years. Although an Earl, James was locked away in a small upper bedroom and never allowed to leave or wander The Castle. He died their under somewhat mysterious circumstances in 1578.
Since, Dragsholm Castle, which would naturally be the ultimate ''Bed and Breakfast'' spot for many visitors to Europe has great problems with bookings. It is quite haunted it seems. Cold Spots, Shadows, even a ''weeping'' (said to be Female, and not related to The Earl) is heard commonly. And low to those who ''try'' and sleep in the very room used to imprison The Earl. Reports of ''pulled bedsheets'' and ''red scratches and bruises'' about the body are also reported.
