''The Frighteners'' was a 1996 Horror-Comedy Film, which had a ''Big Budget'' for the Special Effects which the Film heavily relied on. Cashing in on The ''Ghostbusters'' Film Franchise of the late 1980s, The Film had a small Cult Following, but was not especially well received by Critics. Many though The Movie had the ''right idea'', but relied too much on it's ''Disney-like'' Special Effects. As such, any plans for a Sequel or Prequel were quickly shelved. The Plot dealt with A former Professional whose loss of His Wife, ''re-awakes'' the childhood ability to ''see and communicate'' with The Dead (who take full advantage of this ability it seems). Added by several ''Ghostly Helpers'', The Man uncovers a demonic plot by a Demon, bent on crossing over into ''The Human Plain'' of existence. The Entity uses the Soul of a particularly ''nasty'' Serial Killer to make His Plans come True. Added to this a ''weird'' Federal Agent who takes a little too much credence into The Occult, has His own ideas about both The Demon and the ''New Medium'', who He sees as ''fake''. As stated, the ''Ghost Effects'' are good, but the story line drags a bit.
