There are many Native American Legends which have ‘’graced’’ the pages of ‘’Merlin’s Mansion’’. But this one is rather dark. It centers around an ‘’ancient’’ Tale K’omok Tribe. They were based between Mount Albert Edward and Mount Washington, between The Vancouver Islands Range - Canada. Between these twin Mounts was a tall and mysterious Plateau. The Tribe was at war with a neighboring Clan. The Conflict was bloody and brutal by both Tribal accounts. The K’omok were in fact – losing their Battle for supremacy. As a means of protecting Their ‘’Women and Children’’ – The K’omok placed all of Them on a high Plateau for ‘’safety’’. As it turned out, The K’omok got ‘’lucky’’ and beat Their Rivals. Happy, Warriors went back to The Plateau to retrieve Their Families.  The Warriors were shocked to find that all of Their Women and Children slaughtered – in fact ‘’ripped to shreds’’. The blood and gore stained the rocks, plants and soil. Unknown to The K’omok – but NOT to Their Rivals – The Plateau was ‘’haunted’’ by ‘’Evil, ravenous Spirts’’, who ‘’devoured’’ ANYTHING that came within Their ‘’realm’’. To this day, The Region, renamed ‘’The Forbidden Plateau’’ is still ‘’covered in Red’’. A strange form of moss grows almost year around – it’s color? ……..RED!
