The strange phenomenon known as ''The Fire Ship of Baie des Chaleurs'' is indicative to New Brunswick, Canada – off The Coast of The City of Bathurst. And while some Scientists state that the phenomenon is explainable, many decry their findings as inconclusive. As certain times of the year – normally at sunrise – a strange reddish glow (shaped in a semi-circle), is often seen ''moving across the water''. It appears to some to resemble the tall Masts of a sailing Ship – a flame. The most common answer given, is that the ''glow'' is actually the decomposing gases of dead plankton – reacting to both The Sunlight and tidal influences. But to others, one of three Legends are more apt. The first, is that in the 18th Century AD – Slaving Ships attacked the local indigenous Tribe along The Coast – trapping them into slavery. Every year this happened. On the last so ''Hunt'', the Natives fought back. As The Ship was moored, a War Party crept aboard and set the Vessel on fire. The fire spread so quick that most of the crew were badly burned and had no choice but to dive into the freezing Sea. They all drowned – to include several hundred previously captured Natives. The ''burning Ship'' is still said to be seen as a result, trapped for all Eternity to relive their pain. In fact, in the 19th Century AD – locals stated that the Ghosts of The Crew were seen in houses and farms ''begging for help''.
Another tale, is that a Pirate Ship cornered and plundered a Merchant Ship, which happened to be carrying a woman on board. The Pirates ''had their way with Her'' – eventually turning to murder. With Her dying breath, She cursed The Pirates to ''burn with their Ship for all Eternity''....Perhaps they are The Final ''origin story'', dealt with an all Protestant Crew of a Merchant Vessel. One of The Crew was a Catholic. When The Ship began to experience bad luck and poor weather, The Crew blamed their misfortune on the poor Sailor. They murdered Him ''most foul''. God was said to have punished the evil Crew by making their Ship ''Hell on Earth'', forever to ''burn'' as punishment for their judgment. Regardless of which version you chose – The ''Fire Ship'' is still a popular ''Ghost Story'' told in new Brunswick, with hundreds of visitors to this day trying to catch a glimpse of ''something'' Supernatural.
