Although now only a bare tatter of silk, the once Bright Flag of The powerful Scottish Highland Clan of MacCleod was said to have been a gift from The Fairy Folk as a token to The Chieftains infant Son. It was further said, that as long as The Clan bore The Flag before them in battle, they would be unbeatable. From the 15th Century forth, The Clan, which was involved in many battles of The Clan Wars were always unstoppable in battle. Accounts by their Enemies always told of The Yellow Banner (or Fairy Flag).
Subsequently, no Plagues or Cattle loss were ever experienced by The Clan MacLeod. All of these events were attributed to The Fairy Flag. But, as the Clan began to die out, so to did the magic of The Fairy Flag. It is said that one day however, The Clan will be reconstituted and The Flag will regain it s full and mysterious power. Of later note, a portion of Dunvegan Castle (where The Flag rests), was bombed (partially) by German Bombers in WWII. It is said that the fires mysterious died out when they approached the remains of The Fairy Flag. It was considered good luck for Scottish Bombing Crews to fly over Dunvegan before heading out to Germany. Many of these Missions were successful and their Crews came home.
