The ‘’Star Ariel’’ was a standard Passenger Flight aircraft for British South African Airways. The aircraft a Tudor-Class Mark IVB, departed South Africa for Bermuda (South Atlantic/Caribbean). The Medium-sized Liner held 20 persons when it lifted off on January 17th 1949. After a period of 4-hours without contact, ‘’Star Ariel’’ was declared in distress. Hundreds of surface Shipa and aircraft were called into The Bermuda Region to locate wreckage and survivors. After 2-days, The ‘’Star Ariel’’ was declared ‘’Lost’’ (or perhaps the proper term ‘’Missing’’).
No wreckage, oil pools, bodies or anything expected form an aircraft crash was found. Years later, attempts were also made to use side-sonar and bottom-sonar to locate any possible remains. Again, nothing. But what is odd is the decades long hidden and reputed radio distress signal from ‘’Star Ariel’’. The transmission claims that a ‘’large glowing cloud’’ appeared from ‘’nowhere’’. The Plane attempted to evade the phenomenon. The Pilot was heard to say that ‘’the Cloud’’ was ‘’following’’ The ‘’Ariel’’. It was beginning to overtake the aircraft. Then , as those who claim to have heard the radio transmission – The ‘’Ariel’’ simply stopped transmitting. The transmission was ‘’hidden’’ to not cause any undue panic about trans-oceanic air flights. And, by the way…’’Star Ariel’’ did report it’s last position as being well within the infamous ‘’Bermuda Triangle’’.
