Many Roads and Streets throughout the World are said to be haunted or cursed, and The United States of America is not immune. One particular well known stretch of American Highway had it's own unique legend, none other than US Route 66. A major link from The East Coast to The West, a Spur of which was constructed to link the States of New Mexico, Utah and Colorado. It was named US Route 666. Now naturally, the significance of these so-called "cursed" numbers are linked to The Devil. However, it's naming had absolutely nothing to do with such. The 190-mile Route however, had it's "own" plans. Starting in the 1930s, many strange and unexplained occurrences began to happen. Of note, reports of a Black, Pierce-Arrow Roadster began to rise. The Black car, which seemingly had no Driver, wad responsible for running off the road at least 5 people traveling the road. All were killed. Many survived, barely. Police from all three States searched in vain for the "Felon". The car was never found.

In another Case, huge "Hell Hounds" (as they have been described), chase cars down the road at "incredible and otherworldly" speeds. In one instance, a Motorcycle Club had pulled over off US 666 one night. They were attacked by the "Demon Dogs". One biker had is arm ripped off, another his face! The last known "visage" is that of a lone girl, seen wandering down the dark Route. Whenever someone tries to stop to offer assistance, she vanishes. That is until you start your car again....she has been reported sitting in your back seat, without a face! The "stories" of "what" theses Apparitions are or why they torment travels are not known. Of course, Locals all have their "take" on the causes. So many strange things have happened on Route 666, that Officials renamed it US Route 491 in 2003. Perhaps this will help.......
