Sometimes called an ''Urban Legend'' or Myth - The ''Devil's Chair'' was a form of 19th Century Funerary design seen in many Cemeteries throughout The World. These constructs were made of stone, and carved to resemble lounging chairs or benches place inside a Cemetery, In some cases, instead of a Headstone or Marker, a Deceased Person would request a ''Mourning Chair'', for comfort of his or her Family when visiting. Naturally, legend and fable developed from such ''Chairs''. In some Countries, the term ''Devil's Chair'' meant that some form of courageous act (such as sitting in The Chair at or around Midnight) would invoke the image of Satan himself. Other tales derive around strange acts that will be performed with object placed on a Chair. A common tale is to place a can Beer or Soda (unopened) on a Chair at Midnight. If one leaves for a few minutes and returns, the can is ''mysteriously'' open. Sometimes it is ''consumed''. In some Legends, evil or bad events occur if one is foolish enough to sit in a ''Devil's Chair''. Curses abound with this type of myth. In most case, only by making a ''sacrifice'' to the Chair will the bad luck be broken. Such ''tidings'' may involve ''blood sacrifice'' or even the ''bartering'' of one's soul.
