16 year old Ronald Johnson was a Farmer's Son just outside of Delphos, Kansas on November 2, 1971. He was working (tending Sheep), with his dog around 7 P.M. As he reached the top of a slope in the field (giving him partial elevation), he saw what appeared to be a Dome-like Object some 25 yards from his position. As the Boy and his dog approached he noted that the Dome was perched on a white rod or pedestal . Almost as quickly as seeing the Object, the pedestal began to glow with a bright Light and disappeared up into the Dome. The Object flew off the ground with such speed and force that it hit and knocked over a medium sized Oak Tree, nearby (as well as almost hitting the top of a field Shed). The brightness of the light temporarily blinded the Boy.

Recovering, he ran home and brought his Father and Mother. As the two were leaving the House, Ronald pointed up into the sky (were the Object had flew to). A bright light was visible in that direction (although no distinct shape could be seen). Going to the landing site , the Family saw what appeared to be an 8 foot in diameter circular mark in the ground. It appeared to be a whitish substance When Johnson's Mother touched the substance, her finger went immediately numb. She tried to wipe it off her fingers on her pants leg (it too went numb, and would remain son for 2 weeks). The Family also examined the damaged Tree.. On the ground, it appeared to be withered and quite old. Inside the break - the tree appeared live and normal . The site was photographed by the Father and local Authorities were notified. Soil samples were also taken. The ring was still present 30-days after the initial contact (when another investigation was conducted by a private UFO Research Group). In addition, Ronald Johnson experienced several months of nightmares and vision problems.

The family dog refused to left outdoors at night. Finally, the Sheep that were present nearby were acting strangely and in some cases losing their wool fur. HEAVY debunking of the Case soon developed. Biologists claimed the ring substance was nothing more than a fungus. As for the Tree, it was simply a unaccounted for effect of an already dead tree . According to the private UFO Research Group, high levels of radiation are present in the soil. Further, the substance extends some 12-inches INTO the ground (not just the surface). Although both sides disagree no formal explanation was ever offered.
