Reported in October of 1978 in Clarenville, Canada, reports of a strange flying "Disc", were made by multiple witnesses to The Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Constable James Blackwood was the responding Officer. Having just finished a surveillance detail, he had several high-powered observation scopes in his possession. Upon arrival at Clarenville, Blackwood too saw what he described as a "large, Silvery Saucer-shaped Object, hovering off the ground in a field some 400 feet in the air". Blackwood observed the Craft with his equipment. He noted no discernable details other than a Red light at the top of the Object. It made no sound or secondary movements (spinning or drifting).

After 20-minutes of observing the incredible sight, Blackwood turned on his emergency red lights on the roof of his Police Cruiser. He noticed that the Red Light on top of the Craft began to blink and match the pulsations of his! Soon after, Constable Blackwood noted the Craft shot straight upwards at an accelerated speed and disappeared into the late afternoon sky. Blackwood made an official report to his Command. The story was even picked up by The BBC (who filmed the interview). Blackwood never had any other similar "encounters" and retired in 1988.
