Apparently UFOs can be sued for supposed negligence . That was the claim of the first ever lawsuit brought against a UFO encounter in The United States. The date was December 29, 1980. This is how it happened. Two Families (friends), The Cashes and Landrums (women and children) were driving along a 2-lane road outside of Dayton, Texas. It was somewhat late (9 P.M.) The passengers in the car noted a strange diamond-shaped light hovering off in the distance (near the outskirts of Houston International Airport). No one inside really gave it much thought. That was, until the Object changed directions and appeared to heading straight for the road and the car! The Object hovered directly over the car (which by now had been pulled over to the side). The light was terribly bright and the passengers said they could feel intense heat inside the car - (so much so that the hard plastic dash board actually started to go soft and melt ). On of the ladies put her hand on the dash (and was burned). Further, any exposed metal surface was said to be radiating intense heat . Soon, the passengers hears the sounds of helicopters. Immediately the light went out (but the Object was still there). 12 Chinook-type Military helicopters arrived and began to (as best was described) escort the Object away!
The women (shaken), waited until the car cooled and continued home. They reported the incident to local Police. They stated that they had received a report from one of their Officers that he too had seen the 12 helicopters (but no light). The Police examined the vehicle the ladies had driven. It showed signed of being burned and charred in some areas (as well as the dash board being warped ). The Police advised the ladies to take photos for insurance purposes . The passengers in the car (over the next several weeks) began to experience strange health issues. When examined, Doctors could not explain the fact that the passengers appeared to have been exposed to moderate levels of radiation. With medical bills mounting, the ladies (who believe it, or not NEVER assumed that they had encountered a UFO)- felt that The US Military was to blame. They hired an Attorney and brought suit against The US Government for their injuries (to themselves and property). The Case in fact did to go Court. The findings, The Judge ruled that the ladies could not sue the Government who testified that they did NOT own a diamond shaped Object. Without proof, the Case was dismissed. The women lived on to old age (dying at 90 and 80 respectively). No one knows what happened to their car or the insurance photos.
