n UFO History, Pennsylvania was the Site of what is considered the "Roswell" Incident of The East Coast. This is in reference to The Kecksburg "Crash" of 1965. But another incident, often eclipsed - happened in 1974 in Carbondale (a small coal town in The North of that State). This Case was known as "The Carbondale Crash". On November 11th of 1974, a group of boys were playing near a "Coal Pond". These man-made pits were filled with water, in which coal ore was cooled. At 7:00 PM, the boys saw a "yellowish streak of light" in the sky, slowly descending in their direction. Thinking it perhaps an impending aircraft crash. They ran into the nearby treeline. Within seconds, the heard a loud splash of water and a "sizzling sound".

Leaving the treeline, the boys saw the Coal Pond was completely covered in steam. The surrounding area felt "hot and humid". Scared, the boys ran to get help. Later, a Police Car arrived at the location to investigate. By thus tone, the steam had subsided. The Officers shined their lights into the water, and saw what they described as needed "irregular disc shaped Object, glowing faintly in the water". The Object appeared to be 20-feet in diameter. The Officers radioed their Station, who in turn made inquiries to The US Government. It was determined that "whatever" had impacted in Carbondale was definitely NOT theirs. Within several hours however, several Military Trucks loaded with Soldiers appeared at the Site of the reputed crash. The area was cordoned off from everyone. Another few hours passed, the sound, of Military Transport Helicopters were heard. Some Residents who claimed they "sneek a peek" at the "operation", said they saw the "Object" picked up and placed inside an Armored vehicle of some sort. The entire Military group soon departed Carbondale. Years later, The Government denied as such "recovery mission" in the area.
