Reported between 1953-54, The Beast of Bladenboro, North Carolina made some headlines during it's short-lived reign . A large cat-like creature (around 5 feet long), This creature was said to either crush or decapitate it's prey normally dogs. In most cases, all blood was drained and the carcasses were shredded with little meat eaten or apparently taken by the beast. So popular was the story, that it made National Wire Service news, and as many as 1,000 Out-of-Towners converged on Bladenboro to hunt The Beast (which now had a $5,000 (USD) Bounty on it). Although MANY area Bobcat Predators were shot and killed, none matched the description given of a huge Cat-like creature with a larger than normal head and larger than normal paws . Although the attacks (speculated at over 300 dogs dead) stopped in 1954, many feel that the creature survived, and is still out in the deep woods of North Carolina.
