This curious piece of history has puzzled historians for Centuries. It is a map of The World, first published by French Cartographer Phillipe Bauch in 1737. He claimed he used much older sources to copy it (but refused to say from where). The Map shows an aerial view of The World directly over Antarctica. Unfortunately, NO ONE had discovered the Continent in 1737. It also shows the land mass WITHOUT ice. So exact in detail, it could be looked at in the 20th Century and locations in geography would easily be located. In 1958, a seismic survey was conducted of Antarctica. A river (shown on the 1737) was in fact found, under miles of ice! (but in The Bauche Map it is free-flowing). Many Geologists cite that this is how the continent looked millions or years ago. The map detail could only have been made from altitude. How was it made and where did Bauche get his original source material?
