Possibly no other Case in The World has garnered more attention than "The Amityville Haunting". As we have previously read regarding the "Horror Movie" (made 4 years after the alleged events that happened in the home), everyone who stays in the thoroughly "evil" house, barely escapes with their lives! The Case has been label outright hoax, to a genuine example of a true "haunted house". The following information is most accepted as the chronological listing of what actually happened.

The house located at 112 Ocean Avenue is nestled in the small New York State (US) Town of Amityville, Long Island. It is a 2-story, Dutch-Colonial style structure, that sits in it's own Lake. Various other homes dot the shore. In 1965, The DeFeo Family of a Father, Mother, 2 young boys, an older Brother and Sister, lived their in unassuming peace. That was until November 13, 1974 - when the oldest Son, Ronald Jr. took his Rifle from his closet and shot to death his entire family! Arrested, tried and convicted, DeFeo's Case was one if the first to cite "The Devil Made Me Do It" -as a defense. DeFeo claimed that "voices" in the house made him commit the heinous act. Without a death penalty, DeFeo wad sentenced to consecutive life sentences (where he still remains).

A year later in 1975, The Lutz Family purchased the home for a ridiculously low Market price. They were made aware of the Murders that had happened there, but we're unconcerned. The Lutz Family consisted of a Mom and Dad, 2 young boys and a young girl. Within 28 days, the family would flee in terror from the house. They told stories of Paranormal phenomenon which included "bleeding walls", fly infested rooms, malevolent Spirits (and some not so), as well as the Father (George), having a desire to shoot his family!

The Lutz's story would be picked up by Writer Jay Anson. The resulting book "The Amityville Horror" would become an International Best Seller. So popular, that ANOTHER "sequel" book wad produced (The Lutz's ordeal apparently did NOT stop with the house!), as well as a major Hollywood film (with 6 more subsequent sequels which have little to do with the Case). As time drug on, certain elements of The Lutz story began to fall through. It was later determined that the more "sensational" aspects of the Case. The Lutz's still maintain that most of the phenomenon happened. The house at 112 Ocean Avenue has been occupied MANY times since (and currently is). No one else has reported any "problems".

Enter Ed and Lorraine Warren, long known in the Paranormal Community as the "apex" of some of the most difficult Paranormal Cases investigated, they were brought in by The Lutz's to provide proof of the activities experienced. In 1979, The Warren's and their "Team" (armed with then advanced technological equipment designed for Paranormal detection), not only determined there WAS a "Demonic entity" in the house, they also reputedly "captured" an image of it's "assumed" form as a "human child" (complete with "glowing eyes"). The picture was taken using night-infared film (in the dark, of course!)
