As unusual ''Monster'' Tale from 1959 the Black and White ''The Alligator People'' deals with a Nurse who suffers with Amnesia. After dose of medications by Doctors, Her ''past life'' come to life. Before being a Nurse, She was a happy Newlywed to a young Scientist. However, on their Honeymoon Her Husband has to hurry away to Louisiana (no explanation given). After many months, His Wife hires a Detective to find out what happened to him. His investigations lead Her to a deserted Southern Plantation and a local ''Scientist'' (who used to work with Her Husband). The ''Swamp Doctor'' has found a method of restoring lost limbs with a type of irradiated serum using reptilian DNA (as you can probably figure out what is coming). His Test Subjects (Her Husband was exposed to the serum unwittingly) all grow back their missing body parts, but start to transform into humanoid lizards. They slowly lose all ''humanity'' and are ''drawn to The Swamps''. After learning the horrible secret, The ''Swamp Doctor'' plans to do away with our Girl, but She is saved by Her ''almost'' Lizard Husband. Killing The ''Swamp Doctor'' and destroying The Lab (and formula), He dutifully throws Himself into quicksand, slowly sinking away. Witnessing all this, Our Girl ''lost Her identity'' (as a coping method). The Doctors working on Her amnesia ''decide'' to not tell Her of Her ''past life''.
