The Alligator Man

 Along the same lines as The Cardiff Giant and The Solid Muldoon , The Alligator Man is a probable hoax from Florida (US). It was claimed that a strange Race of half-Human and half-Alligator People used to live in both the Florida and Louisiana Swamps. Last reported by Native American Tribes in the 1700s, The Alligator People apparently died out (or went elsewhere!). In the 1950s, a local Florida man produced evidence of a part-Alligator hybrid (with a Human head no less). Displayed at his roadside museum - people would come and pay to see the oddity. It is long thought that Jake (as the specimen is called) is an elaborate taxidermied creation - many still claim that strange and similar creatures still exist in the deep Swamps.
