Campy and and full of 1920s Art Decco, the movie was a mainstay on late night Television for years. The film deals with Anton Phibes, an uber wealthy inventor and eccentric. A believer in modern medicine, His outlook is dashed when His beloved Wife dies during surgery. Phibes believes that The Surgical Team was lazy in it's duties. Promising revenge, Phibes is thought to have died in a horrific car accident. In reality, He is horribly burned and deformed. Later, Phibes returns to enact judgment on The Doctors and Nurses - by using The "Plagues of Egypt" from The Bible as His method of revenge. Each one more horrible than the last. The Police determine that Phibes is not dead, and despite their best efforts to stop Him, are foiled. Phibes escapes capture my placing Himself in suspended animation. Along with the preserved corpse of His late Wife, He waits for His next opportunity to resurrect Her.
