The so-named ''2012 Phenomenon'' was a period in the years 2012, by which many thought – that The Worlds was ''coming to an End''. This information was based on research culled from the Ancient Mayan Calendar, which – ran in a 5,126 year cycle (reckoned on The Mayan calculation of days, months and years). The ''Calendar'' (also known as ''The Long Count''), was carved into various stone tablets and related. Using the Mayan count, a cataclysmic event (also known as an ''Extinction Level Event'') – would literally ''destroy'' The Planet. The day set....December 21st 2012. Many speculated that destruction would be either destructive earthquakes, resulting floods or an interstellar event such as an asteroid, meteor or comet strike. Some even speculated that a ''Rouge Planet'' would impact The Earth. Many pointed out, that The Mayan Calendar had ''accurately'' predicted several ''events'' which happened (despite being theorized thousands of years prior). This naturally caused some element of panic among The World's population. And while some other Ancient Cultures likewise posed similar observations, The World did not end in 2012. Some cite a miscount on The Mayan Long Count Calendar, but this is refuted as well.
