An example of Hoaxed Cases creating disinformation and confusion within UFOlogy, The ''Farnborough UFO Hoax'' is a classic one. The Incident caused much Media attention, not only in Great Britain but throughout The World, in September of 1967. While it is unclear ''how many'' were involved in The Hoax (knowing participants or honestly wary observers), Police near several different locations in Southern England responded to calls about ''strange humming noises'' and ''Silvery, Disk-like Objects'' (although none of the Calls stated The Objects were airborne).

Sure enough, Police found the strange Objects, each emitting a ''humming noise'', apparently ''crashed into the ground''. Military Authorities were notified. After much ''fanfare'', The British Military determined each ''Object'' was a hoax. Made of a metal compound, each Disc was 4-feet in diameter and appeared solid (no seams, ''windows'', etc.) It was found that The ''Craft'' were filled with ''flour and water'' with a cleverly placed, enclosed ''sound emitter'', which had a pre-recorded ''hum''. Several weeks later, several Aircraft Engineering Students, working at The Royal Aircraft Facility near Farnborough, were responsible. They said they performed the ''gag'' as part of a College ''stunt''.
