The 1783 England Mass Sighting

August 18, 1783. Windsor Castle, England. At 9:45 P.M. MANY persons (in The Castle) and in the surrounding Region, reported a large luminous Object quietly sailing through the skies of England. Every time the Object passed through a cloud it would get brighter . Several members of The Royal Academy of Science were on the roof of Windsor Castle (along with other Royalty) supposedly taking in the night sky - when the Object appeared. At a loss, the Scientists could only observe the spectacle. The Object soon began to glow with a pale blue color . It then began to travel faster (towards the East). It became so bright, that at one point the groups shadows were clearly cast . So popular was the sighting - that in 1794 a painting was commissioned of the Event . It had been later stated to have been a Meteorite (as if 2 Fellows of The Royal Society couldn't have figured that one out!)
