A fixture of The Medieval Era of Europe, the Latin termed ''Tempestarii'' were said to be Human ''Magicians'', who had the abilities to control weather. This control came from invocations (Magic), to create storms (both for good and bad). Those who were seen as Tempestarii, were both honored and feared. Typically a Male vocation, later in time – Females (''Weather Witches'') were included. The term was first recorded by The Early Church around the 8th Century AD. Seen as Pagan by The Church – who cited that only God can control the weather, Tempestarii were naturally persecuted (or at least the though of them being real was). Still, as Christianity took hold throughout Northern Europe, many Regions still maintained their beliefs in persons who could control (and forecast) weather.
