''The Dunwich Horror'' (1970)

Based on HP Lovecraft's 1924 Novel of the same name, the 1970 Film version is moody, dark and pretty much what you would expect from a Lovecraft Tale. At a time in Horror Films when Satan ''sold tickets'', a mass of Devil Themes Horror films would sprout up. ''The Dunwich Horror'', while some Critics lambased, some actually liked it. The film is oft compared to ''Horror meets LSD''. A College girl is lured to a Family Manor by a handsome Fellow Student, for a weekend of peace away from College Life. In reality, The Man is actually part of a very old Massachusetts Family, well seeped in Witchcraft and Satanism. The overall goal of The Family, is to find a willing female ''vessel'' to give birth to an ''Old One'' (an Interdimensional Ancient God of immense Evil). Police arrive just as The Family Coven (using a creepy Altar overlooking a storming Sea) begin to invoke The''Old One''. Rescued with The Family arrested, the girl is later examined at The Hospital - only to find that she is indeed pregnant......but by who or what The Dunwich Horror is really worth a watch.
