A Folktale from Provence, France, The Tarasque was said to be a cryptoid Beast that was part Dragon, Ox and Bear. They had a hardened, Turtle-like shell (but some cite they were quite hairy Beasts). Finally, The Tarasque had a scaly, Reptilian tail with a Scorpion Stinger, attached. All in all a ''fearsome'' Monster indeed. A Water dweller, Tarasque ''tales'' center around Medieval French Knights fighting them on Quests. They are featured much as do Dragons are in Medieval English stories of a similar vein. In various Communities, various Seasonal Parades and Religious Ceremonies occur, in which performers don special Tarasque costumes much as Chinese Cultures use Dragon performers in the same way. In France, it symbolizes ''Good over Evil''.
