Unlike Our previous Article on The Middle Eastern ‘’Jibbeh’’ (a Shirt worn by Muslim Warriors which They believed made them ‘’invincible’’), a ‘’Talismanic Shirt’’ was entirely different. First seen in wide use by ‘’The Faithful’’ to Tye Muslim Religion around the 15th Century AD, these Shirts could be found as far as Africa. Of one-piece construction, and slipped over the Head of The Wearer – The Shirts were embroidered with various scripture from The Quran. The names of various Prophets as well as numbers seen as ‘’spiritual’’ were also added (to some). It was well believed that true ‘’Believers of Allah’’, would be healed should they contract or have a pre-existing ailment. The Shirts had to be worn to ALL Daily Prayers as well as other Religious Meetings or Functions. Due to their similarities to the ‘’War Garment’’ known as The Jibbeh, some incorrectly associate wearing The Talismanic Shirt into Battle as well. Their wide usage began to wane by the 18th Century AD.
