A Religious fixture among MANY Native American Tribes, The ''Stomp Dance'' is often misinterpreted by ''White Men''. ANY form of ''foot stomping'' is often seen as part of a ''Pow Wow'' Ceremonial Dance (and is still seen as We have already discussed prior). But the traditional ''Stomp Dance'' – as practiced by mainly Eastern Seaboard Tribes and several Mid-Western ones – involves a very specific ritual. As done originally, a Dancer covers His or Her ankles, shins, thighs, wrists, forearms and neck, with rattle-like devices (designed to make a noise or ''rattle''). The more devices, the more ''noise''. A characteristic stomping of the feet and shaking of the body is also added. The Dancer(s) then form a circle around a Ritual Fire and dance around said flames – often for hours. The goal is too become ''lost'' in The Dance and opening one to The Spirits. If done properly, such Tribal spirits will come into The World and ''grant boons''. These could be a successful hunt, good crops or even victory in battle. Various rattles were fashioned from either turtle or sea shell (if Eastern Seaboard Tribes) to bone or small rocks (even dried seeds), found in Mid-Western Tribes. As performed today, a Dancer cannot be under the influence of ANY drugs or alcohol, as this would stop their ''communing'' with The Spirits.
