Unlike the previously discussed Demonic Possession , examples of Spiritual Possession are more closely linked with it s similar identifier Spirit Guide . For thousands of years, Holy Men and Women of different Religious cultures have presumably invoked The Spirits of ancestors or Helpers , to make contact with other Plains of existence. In fact, such Holy Men were often consulted by Rulers of Ancient Cultures in all matters of State importance. Unlike Demonic Possession, in which the goal of the invading Entity is the complete control of a Person for the purpose of bodily habitation (without permission or assistance of the intended victim ), in cases of Spiritual Possession, such Entities are invited to take control of a Person s physical body for a temporary period of time.

In Ancient Cultures throughout The World, Holy Persons would often initiate a form of Trance, coupled with incantations, in the attempt to coax various Guide Spirits to take control of their bodies. Through this, The Spirit could use the voice of The Holy Person to speak . Often questions regarding The Future were posed. Much of thus ritualized practice fell into disuse (even persecuted) with the advent of Christian Religions. In the late 19th Century, a revival of related Spiritualism began.

Mediums or Clairvoyants, claimed to have harnessed the ancient practice. The wave spread to a major business venture from the 1920s to The 1940s. However most of these supposed Clairvoyants were charlatans, using trickery to achieve their results. Many attempted to use their gifts in claims of contacting The Dead, using themselves as amplifiers to the so-called Spirit World. With very few unexplained exceptions, most were fake. Although mostly dismissed today, the practice of Spiritual Possession is still claimed as a tool of Modern Clairvoyants.
