From the 13th/14th Century, The Spanish Cradle was a wooden wedge shaped device (roughly 5 to 6 feet in length). Raised off the ground 5 to 6 feet as well, the "wedge" sat on two "A" frame supports. A metal plating was installed on the wedge (which was slightly sharpened). The Victim was placed (straddled) - over the wedge. First, a series a different weights were attached to the legs. As the weight increased, the pulling action would cause extreme pain to the buttocks/genitalia area. Not used as an Execution device, it primary function was to elicit a confession.
