In Haitian Folk Magic (Voodoo), Loas (Spirits) seldom work in tandem. Two that do, are known as ''Sogbo & Bade''. Sogbo ''commands'' lighting and ''Bade'' the effect of thunder. They are invoked as protection and as a weapon against an Enemy. As both atmospheric conditions are brought together, Sogbo & Bade ''summon'' The Deity known as ''Agau''. It is He that directs thunder and lighting towards The Earth. Earth, Trees and Water so ''struck'' by such an invocation, the area is seen as ''Holy Ground''. In regards to Earth and Trees, ashes gathered are often used in potions.
