Snallygaster

 A story told by German immigrants of The State of Maryland (as early as the 1730s), The Snallygaster is a mythical (and horrendous) beast. Said to be half-Reptile and half-Bird, The Snallygaster embodied the characteristics of a Ghoul and Demon. It was about 150 pounds and almost 75 feet long. It as razor sharp teeth and a mouth that also featured Octopus-like tendrils. The Snallygaster (having wings), would swoop down and scoop up it's victims. Many think that The Germans made up this Monster to scare Slaves into straying put rather than try and runaway.
