Found initially in The French ‘’Vulgate’’ compendium of The Arthurian Legend – ‘’Sir Pellas’’ was a lesser Knight of The Round Table. Pellas participated in a Tournament of Archery to win the hand of a Court Maiden. An expert with The Bow, the other Knights ridiculed Pellas as being unworthy of Her affections. This caused Him to withdraw from The Contest and to ‘’lose Himself’’ in The Woods. He came across the mythical Land of Avalon and became smitten with ‘’The Lady of The Lake’’. She too develop-ed feelings for Pellas and became His Wife. In a paragraph from Mallery’s ‘’Le Morte’’, Pellas decides to return from His self-imposed exile to try and again ‘’woo’’ His Maiden. But He finds His best Friend, Sir Gawain in ‘’passion’’ with Her. Rather than kill the two for a breach of Honor, Pellas waited until they sept, and placed His blade between the two, for them to ‘’see’’ in the morning. Although nothing more is mentioned of Pellas, it is assumed He perished along with most of the other Round Table Knights at the Battle of Cam Lann.
