Of East African (Swahili), ''Shetani'' were a form of ''deformed Spirits''. Once they overtook a Human (via Possession), they needed to be removed (exorcised) by a Shaman. The Shaman required that a wooden Icon be constructed (carved). The more ''twisted and deformed'', the better. The Shaman worked form many hours using tried and true Rituals to remove The Shetani – casting their Spirits into a ''Home'', they would (and could) ''enjoy'', namely the carved sculpture. But, it was important to remember ONE THING. NEVER burn The Shetani Carving, else the Spirit would be released and take up residence in the body of they who burned their Icon.
