Another term for Ghost or Spirit , the term links back to Ancient Greece and was used to associate The Spirits of Hades or The Underworld to Humankind. The Ancient's well thought that once the physical body died, The Spirit or Shade would proceed to exist in both The Underworld and The Physical World. They were both benevolent and malevolent (depending much on how they were in life). Shades became a major component in Grecco-Roman Literature and Oral Traditions, as a means of conveying Morality Tales . These Cautionary Tales served to instruct The Living . Often, Shades were portrayed in various Stage Productions in both Cultures, very much the same way. They were shown always dark and foreboding .
