A mythical creature that held an important part in Medieval Mapmaking, The Sea Pig is a creature seen drawn on many Maps of the 14th through 18th Centuries. Said to be an actual' beast, it resembled a cross between the Great Sea Bass and a Land Pig (a big one!). The Sea Pig is often shown with a very human-like visage. It was used to symbolize laziness and sloth (and was a direct shot at Protestants, when the Maps were made by Catholic Cartographers). The Sea Pig was also known for having many separate eyes located around it's body (it is assumed that it does not wish to be caught lazying around!
