''Salem's Lot'' (1979)

One of American Horror Writer Stephen King's most iconic and popular Horror stories, the Novel was published in 1975. A very popular mini-series (made for US TV) was later released in 1979 (and yet again in 2004). In the story a strange man opens up a local business in the small and sleepy Town of Salem's Lot Maine. Representing a Mr. Barlow (the Owner, and never seen) this odd Man makes friends with the Town's citizens. Almost immediately, people in the Town start to grow sick and die. It is an alert Resident who soon discovers that the Man is the Servant of a Vampire (Centuries old) and his friends in Town aren't dying (but turning into Vampires). They move from small Town to small Town feeding on the populace until they are dead . This leaves groups of his now Vampire minions to spread the disease even farther! Eventually a showdown happens between Mr. Barlow and our Hero which ends with Barlow destroyed (staked) and his Minions trapped in his Mansion (set on fire by our Hero). With only him and a teenaged friend - all that is left of Salem's Lot, they resign themselves to travel the World, seeking out The Undead - to destroy them (now as self-proclaimed Vampire Hunters ).
